Course Overview

 

Our Four-Week Directing programme has been developed to cover a comprehensive range of filmmaking skills, allowing you to explore the processes of visual storytelling, working with actors, interpreting scripts, devising narrative storylines and gain a deeper understanding of the technical aspects of film production including cinematography, sound design and editing using Final Cut Pro HD®. This course is purely practical and will be focused on improving directing skills and helping you to understand an independent approach to filmmaking. 

 

Through a series of filmmaking, technical and directing exercises you will become a more confident practitioner in all areas of production and develop an insight into professional working practices. Industry professionals will mentor you throughout and you will also be given specific support and guidance on how to establish yourself in this vibrant and competitive industry.

- To be able to interpret a script and create a storyboard

 

- To understand how to use the camera to tell a story

 

- To be able to shoot for the edit and edit a scene using Final Cut Pro®

 

- To know how to manage a crew and to direct using correct on-set protocol

     

- To  be able to record sound and to use it creatively to tell your story

 

- To have developed your understanding of the grammar of film and visual story-telling

 

- To be able to work with and elicit good performances from your actors

 

- To have created a short film for your show reel 

 

- To have a deeper understanding of the industry and how to develop your career
