If you're between 14 and 17 years old and are passionate about filmmaking then Young Filmmakers' Academy course has been designed especially for you. Over three weeks you'll be able to try your hand at a variety of different roles, from directing to editing and everything in between. Supported at every stage by industry professionals you will learn how to write scenes, use a camera to tell stories, edit using Adobe Premiere Pro® and direct actors.

Fun and challenging, you should be aware that you'll need to work hard, often under significant time pressure. It's an opportunity to develop organisational skills and learn how to work effectively as part of a team.

Learning Goals

 

By the end of the course, you will:


- Understand the fundamentals of story


- Understand the key elements of cinematography, including lighting, framing, and shooting for the edit


- Know how to work with actors, including casting, preparing for a shoot, blocking and rehearsing


- Be able to record sound and how it can be used to dramatic effect


- Know how to operate a non-linear editing system to create meaningful sequences


- Understand how the roles of scriptwriter, director, cinematographer, sound recordist, storyboard artist, editor and continuity assistant interrelate through the experience of performing these roles yourself

Entry Requirements: Our Young Filmmakers' Academy course is open enrolment and there are no entry requirements.
