Course Overview
Introduction to Writing for TV has been designed for those who want to write for television. The course is a two-day practical introduction to the craft, run by industry professionals.
You will learn the latest about writing for the small screen and leave with an understanding of the basic principles involved in writing a television screenplay and the various television forms and formats available.

- To understand the different forms and requirements of existing TV narratives within a commercial multi-platform environment.
- To understand the story development process for writing to an existing brief.
- To be able to identify a good concept for an original series.
- To be able to create original, engaging characters.
- To be able to develop the right structural approach for different formats, including series, one-offs, episodic, factual, etc.
- To be able to understand the role of genre and scheduling in helping shape and market your story.
- To be able to develop a Series Bible/Format document.
- To understand the importance of target audience and the role of screenwriters within the television industry.
