Vanessa Williams
Vanessa Williams completed our One-Year Practical Filmmaking course in 2007 and has since developed her own production company, created an award-winning short film and completed work on big-budget, feature film productions.
Originally from Seattle, Vanessa graduated from the Met Film School and went straight to work as an assistant editor on St. Trinian’s, filmed at Ealing Studios. After completing this project Vanessa was then awarded the role of Head of Production at online communications company Net121 and worked with the company for over a year as they developed their new corporate division, Film121.
Vanessa has since moved back to Seattle and worked for several film organisations whilst volunteering at the Northwest Film Forum and Reel Grrls – an organisation that teaches filmmaking to young women in a safe and positive environment. Vanessa also worked with Typecast Films as their Festival Coordinator and Publicist and is currently freelancing for communication company Pyramide, whilst starting her own production company Vixen Labs.
In addition to her work within the industry Vanessa has also found success with her short film Hart. So far the film has been accepted into five festivals and was recently announced a winner at the Maelstrom International Fantastic Film Festival.
Vanessa is currently in pre-production on her first feature and we look forward to seeing what she gets up to next. For more information on Vanessa’s work, head to her Vimeo site.
