APT Films rebrands as Met Film Production

After working closely together over the last year or so, APT Films are now rebranding as Met Film Production.

Like APT Films before it, Met Film Production will be dedicated to the development and production of innovative feature films which seek to attract audiences both nationally and internationally, and are at the same time driven by both artistic integrity and commercial sensibility.

Met Film Production  is part of the Met Film group, which comprises the Met Film School , Met Film Post , Met Film Creative (which offers corporate services), and now Met Film Production. Met Film is based at Ealing Studios, and is part of the Arts Alliance Media network.

As a production company, Met Film Production will continue to pride itself on its commitment to fostering relationships with both new and established talent. They already have a have a rich tradition of development activity and shorts production, and through the Met Film School will see a rich flow of opportunity and talent. Integration with postproduction company, Met Film Post,  and the relationships with other companies through the Arts Alliance Media network and within Ealing Studios put the company in a uniquely strong position, and provide a synergistic working environment for emerging and established film industry professionals.

A few highlights on current projects:

o      Little Ashes is now close to picturelock, will be distributed in the US by Regent, and sales agency Katapult are courting the film to prospective buyers in Berlin as we write.

o      Heavy Load is now complete and will premiere at South by Southwest next month. Partners in the US, IFC, have big plans for its launch there and its has recently been sold to the BBC for broadcast here.

o      French Film is now complete, market premiered in Berlin last week with sales agent The Works, and will be released later this year in the UK.

o      Deep Water opened in the UK and the US to critical acclaim and appreciative audiences, and won Best Cinema Documentary at The Grierson Awards, Best Documentary at the San Diego Film Critics Society, and Best Documentary Film at the Rome International Film Festival, among others.

o      Development on new fiction and documentary projects continues apace.

o      The Met Film School Skillset Writers Training Scheme is an excellent example of the synergies within Met Film. The programme will commission ten talented writers to write a first draft of a screenplay at competitive rates but writers will retain the rights in their work, and will be offered first class training and script support throughout. Armen Antranikian

(One-Year Practical Filmmaking) has just received a Jury commendation in the international Filminute competition for his film One Minute Guide To The Planet Earth. One of the jury commented "How refreshing to find such a delightfully off-beat guide to a place we could all use a bit more perspective on!". Armen has just completed his next short, which he shot earlier this summer in Brazil.
