Our Meet the Tutor series is designed to give you an insight into our tutors and their experience at the Met Film School.

Meet Robin Vidgeon who teaches cinematography on our BA (Hons) Film & Digital Cinematography. His camera credits include Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Lion in Winter, The Great Gatsby etc. to name a few!
What/Which courses do you teach at the Met Film School?
I've just completed six weeks teaching on BA (Hons) Film and Digital Cinematography programme, and seven weeks on BA (Hons) Practical Filmmmaking - teaching cinematography and sound.

What is one thing about your field of expertise or filmmaking in general that excites you?

Working in cinema, on the camera crew and creating images inspired by the script and locations.

Do you have any links to your past/current projects (youtube link, url)?

My CV is on IMDB and there are some links to films I have done on You Tube

How would you describe your time teaching at the School? What do you think is the most challenging element of the course you teach?

I find it very rewarding getting good results and enthusiasm from the students. At the end of the day, it's a most enjoyable time, and it's good to deal with helpful and friendly staff. The most challenging aspect for me is drumming into the students: attendance, punctuality and getting exercises in by deadlines.

What are the key attributes you look for in a student?

Discipline. Punctuality. Collaboration, and a gift of enjoying working alongside other crew members. If they have none of these attributes, they will find it almost impossible to work in the film industry.

Any useful tips for aspiring filmmaker?

Believe in yourself and have the highest aspirations, if you really believe this, you will succeed.
