Learning Outcomes:

To achieve a high level of proficiency in the following areas: director’s craft, screenwriting, editing, directing actors for the camera, cinematography, sound recording & design
To become a skilled, Apple®-certified operator of Final Cut Pro HD®
To analyse numerous films from various technical, aesthetic and historical perspectives
To demystify the business of filmmaking, and to learn about the changing opportunities offered by high definition production and digital distribution
To acquire the professional skills and contacts to help you start your career in the film industry

Production Experience:

Two short films made with support from a professional Script Editor and Editor, the second of which will be your Graduation Film made over a three-month period
In excess of ten further shooting exercises which will be analysed with the instructor to help build your showreel
Experience of performing key roles on other students’ shoots, such as Assistant Director, Assistant Camera, Boom Operator, Continuity, Production Designer and Runner to build your CV

Tom Mallory

Recently, the Metropolitan Film School helped One-Year Practical Filmmaking student Tom gain work in the film industry on graduating. Only two weeks after finishing at the Metropolitan Film School, Tom was accepted onto a highly competitive two-month internship with Ealing Studios’ production company Fragile Films. “I got the job thanks to the Met who organised the interview for me”. Tom is also currently applying to the LFS post graduate course to continue his studies.
