This unique course has been developed for those of you who wish to forge a career as a film producer, or who wish to gain a deep understanding of the business of film. You may, for example have a feature film project in mind that you would like to develop. Or perhaps you have transferable business skills that you would like to apply in a filmmaking context.

On this comprehensive course, you will learn how films are created, financed and sold from industry professionals who have recently produced features. This course consists of seminars and workshops on two evenings per week (7.00 pm to 10.00 pm). In addition, you will gain valuable practical experience of the role of a producer by developing your own feature film project. In one-to-one sessions with the instructor, students will budget, schedule, package a feature film and come up with marketing strategies for this project.

How the global film industry, and particularly the UK film industry, operates
The roles of different types of producer (creative, line and financial producer)
How the production process works, from identifying a project through pre- and post-production to distribution and exploitation
How to exploit digital technologies and the Internet
How to set up your own production company
How to survive as an independent producer
