THE JOHN BRABOURNE AWARDS FOR FILM AND TELEVISION

The John Brabourne Awards were launched in May 2007 with the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF) to help new talent to establish their careers in film and television.  In particular the scheme seeks to help those who are disadvantaged in some way, either through lack of funds or through set back in their career due to accident or illness. The awards either offer cash sums to assist with training, rental of equipment, travel, rent, childcare or bills, or offer new talent direct access to essential industry experience, by offering paid work experience at leading companies. The CTBF has been able to secure substantial support from the film and television industry, with companies such as Kodak, Arri Media, Channel 4, ITV. Endemol UK and Turner Classic Movies all endorsing the awards. The deadline for applications is 31st of March 2008. For more information on all the awards, John Brabourne, who can apply and how to apply, please visit http://www.ctbf.co.uk/johnbrabourneawards

Tom Mallory

Recently, the Metropolitan Film School helped One-Year Practical Filmmaking student Tom gain work in the film industry on graduating. Only two weeks after finishing at the Metropolitan Film School, Tom was accepted onto a highly competitive two-month internship with Ealing Studios’ production company Fragile Films. “I got the job thanks to the Met who organised the interview for me”. Tom is also currently applying to the LFS post graduate course to continue his studies.
