3. DIGITAL CINEMA EVENT: NEW BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES FOR PRODUCERS
Pan-European producers' association ACE have partnered with Met Film & TV to host a one-day conference on the impact of digital technologies across the industry, from production through to distribution and exhibition. The event is being held in conjunction with the UK Film Council and Skillset and is sponsored by Arts Alliance Media and the Gate Cinema. The day will be co-hosted by Judy Counihan, the Oscar-winning producer and ex-Director of Film at Skillset, and Luke Montagu, CEO of Met Film & TV. Laura Gragg from ACE comments: "From listening to our members it is clear that producers are increasingly interested to learn more about digital cinema and what it might mean for their business. We are delighted to be working with Met Film & TV, along with Arts Alliance Media - they were the most logical partners given their extensive knowledge both of digital cinema as well as the UK Film Industry".
4. ITV LAUNCH NEW BROADBAND CHANNEL AND SCREEN MET STUDENTS' SHORT FILMS
ITV have launched a brand-new broadband channel and local TV service - ITV Local London
It's an innovative broadband channel with on-demand access to local news from the ITV London Tonight team as well as local documentaries, short films and community videos. They have selected a number of our one-year practical filmmaking students' short films to be screened on the site.

5. PAID INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY AT WARP X IN CONNECTION WITH FILM LONDON
Warp X is a digital film studio backed by UK Film Council, Film4, EM Media, Screen Yorkshire and Optimum Releasing. In connection with Film London they are offering a six month placement to work as a member of their development team, helping find exceptional creative talent to make exhilarating and original movies that excite audiences across the world.
You will need to show real awareness of contemporary independent cinema, excellent communication and IT skills, a flair for dealing with a host of different demands in a busy office, and an ability to think independently. You will have already gained some experience of working in a production company.

6. SHORT FILM COMPETITIONS - CALL FOR ENTRIES
6a: Eastpak Movie Contest
Eastpak have launched a competition for young filmmakers to make a 90 second short film to support their latest advertising campaign - The Eastpak Zombies Campaign : "The Eastpak Zombies are stronger than death because they believe in life whatever the physical issue is. They carry Eastpak bags. A link is made between the physical resistance of the bag and the mental strength of the characters. The campaign concept is positive. The living death images are a mix between violence and fashion. Your film must fit this "I love life" campaign."
The deadline for entries is 10th May 2007 for the entry form and 10th July 2007 for the DVD of the short film. Winning entries will be shown on www.eastpak.com and the winning team will win a macbook and Eastpak Hudson backpack each. For more information contact eastpakcontest@the-satisfaction.com
6b: Filmaka.com Brief for April 2007 Competition
After the success of its first four contests, Filmaka.com has launched its fifth contest. The topic for Filmaka.com's April contest is "The Secret," All entries must be 1-3 minutes in length, and must be uploaded by midnight April 30th 2007. The top 15-20 filmmakers will get a $500 cash prize have a chance at the annual grand prize - a feature film contract. Filmaka.com is an international competition, which accepts films in 10 different languages. Their award winning jury includes Werner Herzog, Neil LaBute, Paul Schrader, Wim Wenders, and John Madden.

6c. Friends Of The Earth Green One Minute Film Awards
This year, as part of Filminute® - an international festival of one-minute films, Friends of the Earth is launching the first green one-minute film awards. Submissions from mid April, deadline for entries will be 20th August and the awards will take place in October 2007. A selection of green films and interviews will showcase on their website leading up to the festival in September, when the public will vote for their favourite green film and their high profile jury will award Best Green Filminute from a shortlist of 27 green films. 6d. BRITDOC Festival - Short and Documentary Feature Films Wanted
BRITDOC, 25 - 27 July 2007 at Keble College, Oxford
03 April 2007 British Feature Doc Competition:
BRITDOC offers the opportunity to screen feature documentary, on both domestic and international issues, to an audience of filmmakers and industry professionals. All films must be a minimum of 70 minutes, completed in the last 12 months and not have previously screened in the UK. Films can be on any subject and 'near documentaries' are always welcome. Submissions for feature films close on Friday 11th May 2007.
Short Film Competition:
BRITDOC is again open for submissions for the FourDocs Short Film Prize. Last year's winner, Matt Killip's Master of Reality went on to screen at Sundance 07. Submissions for short films close on Friday 26th May 2007.
