2. NEWS:
Ø met graduate rick themistocli produces first feature
From Story to Screen in Eight Weeks graduate Rick Themistocli's first feature film as a producer has begun shooting Paris. Currently titled Jack Says, the film is based on a popular comic series and the film is faithful to the graphic, film noir look which has seen revived popularity in recent years with films such as Sin City. The film stars Eric Cantona, Aurelie Amblard, Rula Lenska and Mike Reid. The film is intended for a February 2008 Valentines Day release. Congratulations and good luck to Rick and the rest of the team!
Ø think kurbrick - share your thoughts for channel 4 documentary
Met Graduate Armen Antranikian has been commissioned by Channel 4 to direct a short film for '3 Minute Wonder' about Stanley Kubrick. The concept of the film is a portrayal of Kubricks's audience and Armen needs Kubrick fans who want to share their thoughts on his films. To get involved visit www.thinkkubrick.com.
Ø Little white lies issue 14 out now
LWLies 14 is out now, with the most honest movie criticism on the market. Sean Penn goes Into The Wild, Brad Pitt survives The Assassination of Jesse James, Tom Cruise hunts Lions for Lambs, Russell Crowe takes on an American Gangster, and Robert Rodriguez crash lands on Planet Terror. LWL speak to Amara Karan, breakout star of The Darjeeling Limited, wonder whatever happened to the indie kids who once looked like the future of cinema, discover that Indian cinema is bigger than Bollywood, chase urban canvases across the rail yards of NYC, investigate the seamy side of religious sects, and celebrate the unique sonic world of Wes Anderson with music supervisor Randall Poster. All this plus Carlos Reygadas, indie hottie Shannyn Sossamon, a Man Down retrospective of 2007 and more. Visit www.littlewhitelies.co.uk to subscribe or find out where to get your copy.
Ø bbc film network - new filmmaking guide
Film Network, the BBC showcase for up-and-coming filmmaking talent, has launched a new Filmmaking Guide, which we think is a great resource for film students, new filmmakers and filmmakers looking to break from shorts into features. The guide provides advice on the filmmaking and exhibition process, from pre-production through to marketing and distribution. The guide has new sections this year on legal issues, case studies, exhibition, distribution and hundreds of links to other useful filmmaking resources in print and online. To order your copy visit www.bbc.co.uk/dna/filmnetwork/Filmmakingguide
