Met Film School graduate Alex Tanner's short film 'Sweet' awarded Critic's Choice at Edinburgh

CtheFilm 2007 presented a FESTIVAL OF FILM SHORTS at Edinburgh this year from some of the world's top young film-makers including fiction, documentaries, animation, music videos, world premieres and international award-winners making their UK festival debuts.

The CtheFilm critic's choice this year was selected by Paul Dale, Film Editor at the list.

Met Film School One-Year Practical Filmmaking graduate, Alex Tanner, was one of the four young director's whose film was selected for this award.

Paul Dale described Alex's short film 'Sweet', which he made as his graduation project here at the Met, as "British Comedy at it's best, with a warm, surrealist sensibility".

The other selected films were: The Legend of Rosalie (dir. Nicholas Berger, Film School at the University of Stanford, CA); Silent Night (dir. Amanda Adolfsson, Stockholm's Dramatiska institutet); and Taking Care (dir. Jan Wagner, Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School, Lodz).

Claire Dunn

(One-Year Practical Filmmaking) was working as a runner and researcher in light entertainment TV before starting our one-year programme. She chose to study with us as, "it was the only school I found that let you write, direct and edit your own films and retain the rights to them. I loved my time at the Met, all the staff are helpful"
