The Met Film School has announced the formation of its new advisory board, comprising eleven accomplished industry professionals. The board will draw on its varied knowledge and expertise to advise on the future direction of the school and thereby help to enrich the student experience.
The advisory board is headed by award-winning director and Met Film School patron Stephen Frears, whose work includes widely acclaimed titles The Queen, Dangerous Liaisons and Dirty Pretty Things.
Other members of the board include: Sarah Gavron, the award-winning director of Brick Lane; Judy Counihan, the Oscar-winning producer of Antonia's Line, No Man's Land and upcoming Met Film production French Film and former Director of Film at Skillset; Roger Laughton CBE, chair of South West Screen and a governor of the British Film Institute; Jill Tandy, Head of Commercial Affairs at NBC Universal International Television Production; and Cameron McCracken, Managing Director of Pathe UK.
Also joining the advisory board is Michael Gubbins, editor of Screen International and ScreenDaily.com and media commentator. "The marriage of education and industry is often a forced one, but not at the UK's Met Film," says Gubbins.
Further members include Thomas Hoegh, founder of Arts Alliance; Christoph Rohl, Course Director of the Met Film School; Francis Seriau, founder and Managing Director of Tech Music Schools; Susan Benn, founder and Artistic Director Performing Arts Labs; and Dick Ross, former Chair of Graduate Film at New York and Columbia University as well as an accomplished screenwriter and consultant.
Jonny Persey, director of the Met Film School, says "We are thrilled that our new advisory board includes so many talented and experienced professionals; the breadth of expertise contained in the new board will be an invaluable asset in the school's continual development."
