Ella Vakkasova (One-Year Practical Filmmaking) had a background in finance, but always dreamt of being a film director. A presentation by her favourite director, Bernado Bertolucci, made her realise she was capable of making films herself and she signed up to our one-year course four days later. " Filmmaking is pretty difficult to teach, you almost need to contaminate people with enthusiasm and the Met has passionate tutors who are able to do this." Ella is now doing an MA at the NFTS.

David Roden (One-Year Practical Filmmaking) came to the course with the ambition of working in scriptwriting and development. "There is only one thing better than doing a course about filmmaking at the Met, and that is to be actually working in the industry itself. If it hadn't have been for the course I wouldn't be doing my dream job now." After graduating David won a role in development at Einstein Films where he worked on the polish of two feature scripts. He is now Script Development Executive at BBC Drama Wales.

Jono Stevens (From Story To Screen In Eight Weeks) had production experience before coming on the course but wanted to expand his understanding of the industry. “It made me realise how important it is to find a clever way in, somewhere where I would meet the best people and gain hands on experience." Jono is co-founder of independent distributior Diffusion Pictures, who are on their third theatrical release.

Ed McGown (From Story To Screen In Eight Weeks) had a background as a theatre director. “I chose this course because I knew it would allow me to really get my teeth into the practical aspects of writing and directing film." Ed’s first short, The Art of Queuing, premiered at the 2006 Edinburgh International Film Festival and his second short, In the Cannes, premiered at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. His next short is due to shoot in the south of France later this year.
